If you have room for 2 or 4 batteries, you might want to consider using 6v golf cart batteries. They are true deep cycle batteries and will last a lot longer than most common 12v batteries in your RV. Golf cart batteries have a higher capacity than group 24 and 27 batteries If you decide to change over to the 6v golf cart batteries, you must make an important wiring change. Most rigs that have 2 or more 12v batteries have them wired in parallel.
When going to the 6v batteries, you must wire pairs of them in series to produce the needed 12 volts. This is actually simpler than it sounds When installing new batteries, mark the cables so you do not forget which one is positive and negative. So the discussions below are my attempt to simplify what can be a very complicated system to comprehend. Then it dawned on me that I would want it to be really, really basic.
The AC Distribution Panel is rated for VAC @ 30 Amps with up to 7 branch circuits. The DC section has 12 branch fuse holders, two wired to accommodate 30 Amp fuses, ten more with a maximum rating up to 20 Amps each.
Just what it will take depends to a great extent upon just how your present RV is wired. If you don’t already have things separated out into separate circuits, then you would need a complete rewire in order to gain much from the added power, other than perhaps the ability to use two air conditioners at one time.
